Thailand Red-headed Vulture Project: annual health check

ZPO veterinary team examines vulture.
The 7-month-old, female recent fledgling in a separate nursery enclosure

On 17 September 2024 Zoological Parks Organization Animal Health team examined the breeding pair of Asian King vulture (also known as Red-heaed vulture), named Ming (female) and Pok (male). The breeding pair brooded a female nestling which hatched on 9 February 2024. This nestling was the first for the female breeder in the captive breeding program located in Huai Khakhaeng wildlife sanctuary, the historical breeding site of this globally- and critically-endangered species which has been extirpated in the wild of Thailand for more than 3 decades.
